11th Annual Wellesley Luminary Night will take place on Sunday, December 10

lum4-200x300The Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club’s (WHJWC) is pleased to announced that the 11th Annual Luminary Night will take place on Sunday, December 10. On Luminary Night, the Wellesley community is encouraged to “share the light” by lighting luminary candles along their doorsteps and sidewalks to celebrate the holiday season.

Luminary kits are available online and at Roche Bros. customer service, Wellesley Dental Group and Wellesley Holiday Boutique. Each kit includes 10 luminaries and sells for $20. Kits purchased online will be delivered by December 10.

Luminary Night proceeds directly benefit the Wellesley community through scholarships for Wellesley High School students and grants for local non-profits. Last year, Luminary Night raised $27,000, with more than 13,500 candles lighting the town.

The WHJWC would like to thank all in the community who have made this a special annual event, from the businesses who support this fundraising effort to the neighbors who host Luminary Night get-togethers. The 2017 Luminary Night is supported by WHJWC corporate sponsors including Barber Real Estate Group of William Raveis Real Estate, Brendon Properties, Eye Care & Laser Surgery (LASIK) – Marc Leibole M.D., Needham Bank and Roche Bros.

The Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club is a volunteer organization of more than 80 women who give of their time through hands-on service and fundraising efforts.  WHJWC’s annual fundraisers include Wellesley Marketplace, Luminary Night, Wellesley Kitchen and Home Tour, and the 5K Wonder Run and Kids Fun Run.

Neiman Marcus Gives Back This Holiday Season

Screen Shot 2017-11-27 at 8.13.06 AMNeiman Marcus announces the launch of the Love to Give collection, starting November 2nd and running through December 24th. The collection features dozens of perfectly priced items for gift giving. Each Neiman Marcus store gives ten percent of the proceeds to benefit youth arts education in Neiman Marcus communities across the country. This year, Music Drives Us Supporting The Boch Center is Love to Give’s Boston area beneficiary.

An additional $50,000 from online sales will go to The Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation to support national youth arts programs. Research shows that students who receive an arts-infused curriculum tend to matriculate and graduate at higher rates, score higher on the SAT, and become more creative problem solvers and engaged civic leaders. The Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation is dedicated to supporting the next generation of artists across the states. Vendors participating in the Neiman Marcus Love to Gove collection include, but are not limited to, Sugarfina, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Yves Saint Laurent, Kim Seybert, Nest, S’well, Bedhead, and more. Prices range from $20 – $295.

Art is deeply woven throughout the fabric of Neiman Marcus’ heritage, brand and culture. In fact, NM is one of the few retailers in the world with its own corporate art collection. Engagement with the arts, especially for youth, impacts educational success, which in turn, pays if forward throughout the community.
