June events at Waterstone at Wellesley

Waterstone at Wellesley sponsors events which are free and open to the public, but an RSVP is requested at 781-235-1614. Waterstone is located at 27 Washington St., and includes 134 apartments for seniors 62 and older. It features independent and assisted living rental apartments.

Here are their sponsored events for June:

Michelle and Jackie AronsPiano and vocal duo Michelle and Jackie Arons will perform on Saturday, June 4 at 4 p.m. The mother and daughter musical pair has been performing together for more than 15 years.

Musical Entertainer Mike DardisEntertainer Mike Dardis will show off his guitar, piano, harmonica and vocal skills in a musical performance at Waterstone at Wellesley on Wednesday, June 8 at 4 p.m. Dardis plays a wide variety of artists from Billy Joel to the Everly Brothers.

Professor Jill Silos-RooneyProfessor, historical consultant and political analyst Jill Silos-Rooney for a presentation entitled “Unconventional Conventions in American History and Today” on Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m. Silos-Rooney is a professor of history at MassBay Community College.

Michael Perry presents “Exploring the Coast of Maine”Photojournalist Michael Perry will present a slideshow of original images entitled “Exploring the Coast of Maine” on Monday, June 13 at 4 p.m. He developed his love of photography at an early age, shooting his first images when he was just 10 years old, and is the former director of the L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools.

Professor Curtis Martin presents “American Whaling in the Age of Sail”Professor Curtis Martin will present a talk entitled “American Whaling in the Age of Sail” on Tuesday, June 14 at 3:30 p.m. The talk is an introduction to all aspects of whaling and its importance throughout American history.

Pianist Frederick MoyerConcert pianist Frederick Moyer will perform on Monday, June 20 at 4 p.m. Moyer has been performing as a full-time concert pianist for over thirty years. His career has taken him to 43 countries and he has performed as a piano soloist with most of the major orchestras of the United States.

Patrice Monahan Jazz TrioThe Patrice Monahan Jazz Trio will perform on Friday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. In addition to jazz standards, the group performs a blend of swing, Latin, funk and blues.

Art Matters presents “Claude Monet”Join artist, educator and Art Matters owner Jane Blair for a presentation on Claude Monet on Monday, June 27 at 2:30 p.m. Monet was one of the founders of the French Impressionist painting movement in the nineteenth century.

Piano with Archie RichardsPianist Archie Richards will perform songs from the Great American Songbook at Waterstone at Wellesley on Wednesday, June 29 at 4 p.m. Over the years, Richards has honed his craft as a pianist, studying with Kyriena Siloti, the daughter, student, and assistant of Alexander Siloti, a renowned Russian pianist who studied under Franz Liszt.

Wellesley Theatre Project Holds Spring Soirée in Celebration of Season

53a911ea-f81b-4eea-ae2b-16804a6f8df8-1Wellesley Theatre Project will hold a Spring Soirée on Saturday, June 11th, at 6:30pm in the Wellesley Community Center’s Henderson Hall. This fundraising event will provide entertainment and fun for the whole family including a photo booth and performances by students.  Ticket and silent auction sales help support this local nonprofit which has an active community service program and provides scholarships, after school programming, performance opportunities and theatre education to area youth. Tickets for adults are $55 and include food by Better Life Food open bar with wine, beer, and our signature cocktail; kids are $15. Executive Director Hillary Drew states, “We are delighted to be holding this event in celebration of another successful season at WTP. The past year has been full of students, classes, productions, outreach programs, and lots of theatre fun. We have  seen tremendous growth in our students and community outreach programs.  We can’t wait to see what the next year has in store!”

Photo 2In keeping with their community outreach mission, Wellesley Theatre Project students, known as Citizen Artists, are frequently found performing at the Elizabeth Seton Residence, Waterstone at Wellesley, as well as the Wellesley Free Library, and Wellesley events like the Wellesley Wonderful Weekend Parade.

Wellesley Theatre Project is an arts academy and a Wellesley nonprofit devoted to providing students (PreK – 12th Grade) with the opportunity to study and experience theatre and performing arts through year round classes, staged productions, workshops and summer camps.

Registration is open for WTP’s 2016 Summer Camps. Sessions include three production camps geared for students between 2nd and 12th grade in addition to one week Theatre Arts camps for Pre K-12th grade. The production camps are: Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr., Kids (Grades 2-8), Annie (Grades 2-12), and In the Heights (Grades 8-12).
